Dreamy Hestercombe Gardens
Published in summer 2024 in The English Garden magazine – Hestercombe gardens as Sue Bradley wrote:
“History cannot be allowed to stand still at the Lutyens and Jekyll designed Hestercombe in Somerset, where head gardener Claire Greenslade endeavours to future-proof it’s fine historical planting”.
In summer, the garden blooms with all sorts of planting; roses, poppies, irises, lavenders, and foxgloves. With many sections to explore, there’s the orangery, the formal gardens, two ponds, the Victorian Shrubbery, and Rock Wood.
I always feel humbled when photographing gardens as I’m the only one there, bathed in the warm soft light of the setting sun. I have chase the light before it vanishes out of the photos, but I do steal a moment to immerse in its majestic beauty.
